The 1-day Travel Blogging Workshop on Saturday the 29th November 2014 offered by Elizabeth Joss is geared towards beginners and those wishing to start a successful travel blog. Workshops are held in English and are presented by Elizabeth Joss, a creative writer, travel blogger and online marketer. Sessions are inspiring, informative, interactive and supportive and participants are sure to leave feeling motivated enough to take their blog to new heights.
Who Should Attend
The Travel Blogging Workshop is perfect for those individuals new to travel blogging or those who have started but who have not made as much progress as they would have liked. All ages, cultures and languages are welcome but please note the course is conducted in English, so a good understanding of the language is necessary. You can of course choose to perform any of the written exercises in the language of your choice.
I work with participants to help them uncover what it is they truly want to blog about and how best to put this passion into action. Participants will explore how to better capture feelings, emotions and travel experiences in a unique and detailed-oriented manner. I believe the travel writing process is one that is carefully intertwined with experience, which is why I take participants to different and interesting locations in The Hague as part of the Travel Blogging Workshop. This allows students to write in the raw – to soak up an experience, take it in and really feel the words as they write. Hence, my technique is process-oriented; an internal and reflective experience that takes you as the participant on an internal journey and one that is particularly fulfilling.
The Travel Blogging Workshop in The Hague is a hands-on, practical session that aims to help guide you towards your own inner creativity when it comes to blogging. These are not theoretical lessons. There is a brief theoretical component but the classes are focused on blogging techniques and on getting your ideas online and published. This is a great workshop if you want to hit the ground running with travel blogging, so to speak.
I would like to stress that travel blogging needn’t require a lot of money for sightseeing and costly entrance fees to attractions – you can very well write from your own back yard using your immediate surroundings as a muse. As such, I will teach you how to really observe and document your surroundings (even if The Hague is home to you) and how to easily source interesting and inspiring material for your travel blog – local places you may have overlooked and that could make for great writing.
The following will be covered during the course of the Travel Blogging Workshop:
(1) Finding Your Travel Blogging Niche
(2) Fundamentals of a Good Travel Blog
(3) WordPress / Easy Site Hosting for Travel Blogging
(4) Social Media / Online Marketing / Basic SEO for Blogging
(5) Drawing up a Travel Blogging Action Plan
By the end of the Travel Blogging Workshop, you will have learned how to use your everyday surroundings and experiences as a muse for your travel blog. You will have mastered a travel blog post that is effective, punchy, moving and unique (something that consists of a visual component). You will also have a good understanding of the requirements of site hosting, how to use WordPress on a basic level as well as how to market your blog and get word out there. You will leave the workshop with an actionable travel blogging plan.
The Travel Blogging Workshop is €90 inclusive of VAT (and exclusive of a small booking fee through Eventbrite). This includes all lesson material – pens and paper, tea and coffee and the fee for a short outing in the afternoon. Each student receives a travel blogging workshop pack with some inspiring goodies to use during the workshop and to take home.
All writing workshops are conducted in The Hague / Den Haag in The Netherlands. The venue of the Travel Blogging Workshop will be confirmed with participants and is dependent on the demand and number attending. Should you desire the workshop to be presented in a specific city or location within The Netherlands or to a specific group of people, please contact me to arrange this (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The workshop will run from 10am – 4pm over the course of the Saturday with a lunch break and two other short breaks in between.
Certificate of Completion
All Travel Blogging Workshops come with a certificate of completion. The certificate is not endorsed by any Dutch system and you are unable to use the certificate to obtain points for university or for other courses or studies you may be pursuing. The value of the certificate offered is purely for your own personal achievement records.
